In May, we conducted our first “Custom Designed Lamp Workshop” inspired by Deborah Westfall of Shofar Designs.
Our class of 8 were provided with lots of great fabrics, frames and fringe to choose from and plenty of fun putting together these beautiful designs. We sewed, chatted, laughed and listened to 50’s music as we created our masterpieces. Here are a few of the “almost” final products.
It was such a huge hit, we are preparing to offer a couple of other Custom Designed workshops.
1. CUSTOM THROWS to finish your bed with pizazz, or throw over your sofa or favorite chair. Once again it will be hosted by Deborah Westfall and include a group trip to the fabric store to choose fabrics and fringes, and maybe even a margarita. 2. CUSTOM LAMP SHADES – A second chance to make your own “custom lamp shade”. Dive into our creativity and join the girls for 3 nights of great fun and food. Come away with a “one of a kind” design that you can brag about to your friends. It truly is a blast and you will have created a beautiful piece for your home for years to come.
If you want to be your own designer, or just want a couple of nights out with the girls, choose one or both of these fantastic workshops for your next outing. You will be so proud of yourself and have fun in the process.

Only 4 more days before we board the bus for an exciting Saturday of shopping. We are so looking forward to hosting the bus and chauffering you to 5 of the best furniture consignment stores in the North Atlanta area. We will have refreshments at every store as well as special BUS TOUR DISCOUNTS at each store. A great boxed lunch will be served and your every need catered to. Well it is that time again, and several people have been calling. The Atlanta Consignment Store’s Spring Bus Tour has now been scheduled and plans are underway.
Our Furniture consignment route has been confirmed and there are 5 of the largest and finest furniture/home decor consignment stores participating. It will make for a terrific and fun day for all those who love to shop and find those one of a kind treasures to beautify their homes. Bring your spouse, neighbor, family member or a group of friends to enjoy the day of being chauffered and welcomed with refreshments and special discounts at each and every store. We will be visiting stores in Canton, Woodstock, Roswell and Marietta. You don’t want to miss it.
Air conditioned luxury bus with lunch included will make shopping easy and exciting, and you will have your own bus tour guide that will take care of your every need.

Tuesday night was another great night at FUN FINDS & DESIGNS. Our first Design Workshop for 2011 was a huge success with 80 people in attendance. Parking lot was jammed and we had a full house. The group was treated to two speakers whose energy and enthusiasm carried the evening.
DONNA KRUEGER, our consignment shopper extraordinaire opened the evening with some wonderful ideas on how to decorate your home with consignment, buying quality and saving huge amounts of $$$$. Donna was featured in our article on “Decorating with Consignment” in the SOUTHERN LIVING MAGAZINE’s February issue, which highlighted Fun Finds and Designs. Her shopping tips included her very own “design tote”, which she carries with her everywhere. In her tote she has paint sticks for every room in her home, each with the specific color painted on the stick and marked with name and number. She also includes pages of magazines with specific dream pieces she loves and shops for items that are similar in style, size and color. She also emphasizes checking out the 50% off pieces first when she arrives and is not afraid to ask if the price is negotiable. It was the day after Valentine’s day, and Donna certainly shared the love with all of us. She had Valentines for the entire audience and gave away some wonderful gifts to 5 lucky winners.
As if that wasn’t enough, we then had the priviledge of having DEBORAH WESTFALL from SHOFAR DESIGNS introduce us to her fabulous, patented, luxurious valances and window treatments. Deborah’s creativity and design skills are unmatched and her presentation was filled with luxurious fabrics, including silks, leathers, toiles, and even a feed sack made into an adorable roman valance shade. There was so much excitement and response to Deborah’s presentation, we have decided to do a ‘hands on” workshop for our clients, where Deborah will be showing us how to make custom lamp shades for our own homes. It was indeed a great evening and it was topped off with great food, including Nancy Madden’s gourmet deviled eggs (always a huge hit) and homemade desserts and chocolates from CHOCOLATE FIX, including a fabulous trifle that was enjoyed by all. We will look forward to everyone coming to our next workshop coming up in April.
